Estates Schemes Take Sucker Dollars
Ohio investigators detail a wave of estate swindles run by a small group of operators who used mythic estates like Astor and Bogardus to lure heirs and stockholders into non profit fronts. Exchange Club To Take Part In Civic Luncheon
Elyria Exchange Club voted to skip its regular October 1 meeting to attend the Civic Luncheon supporting the Keep Elyria Ahead campaign by the Chamber of Commerce. Sheriff Carl Finegan showed a safety work film after a noon Graystone Hotel luncheon and discussed abusive letters and a local estate case resulting in a ring leader sent to prison and another convicted. An appeal reversed the latter’s decision, but he died before reaching the Ohio Supreme Court.
