Penfield crash at Rt 1B Rt 301 intersection kills three

Three area women died when their car was struck broadside by an eastbound tractor trailer at the Rt 1B Rt 301 junction in Penfield. Driver Ethel Jones, 69, and passengers Mary Estmond, 57, and Gertrude Ward, 63, were pronounced dead at Wellington Community Hospital.

Jet slams into Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor killing 22

A private F86 Sabrejet crash at Sacramento Executive Airport struck Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor injuring 26 and killing 22, many shoppers including a birthday party of 17. Detroit AP reports a tentative agreement ended the 172 day strike at General Motors Norwood Ohio plant after an all night bargaining session. GM officials gave no details of the settlement which must be ratified by United Auto Workers Local 674. Ratification vote details were not announced.

Hanoi presses for war settlement before prisoner release
