North Ridgeville residents push for action on flood drainage
Residents from Luanne Drive Pitts Road and Root Road allege chronic flooding after Sundays rain. They blame a single drain tile serving many homes and a faulty sanitary storm sewer. Contractor Frank Detore cites about 10000 spent on ditches and rapid water from Turnpike drainage worsening Pitts Road. Mayor Charles Stuart orders city engineer to study the problem with utilities and finance committees.

School chief explains budget needs to Firelands Citizens Committee
Firelands School Superintendent Dean Wise outlined budget needs for the future at a Firelands Citizens Committee meeting. The discussion centered on a 7-mill operating levy on the November ballot, cost of living increases, state requirements, and staff cuts. Wise noted 83.5 percent of funds go to salaries and benefits, listed current staff totals, and said savings would require further staff reductions to meet state standards. Citizens raised credibility concerns over repeated levy defeats, and Wise announced two voter mailings and an invitation for questions.
