1320 home plan unveiled in North Ridgeville

North Ridge Investment Co unveiled the first of three large subdivisions totaling about 200 million. The Westerlies subdivision would include 444 homes on 220 acres near Case Road and Center Ridge Road. Two additional parcels Parklands and Diamond Farm would hold 314 and 462 homes respectively with nine acres of commercial land and a 50 acre city park donation offered for cluster status. Immunization crackdown hits Elyria area students

Elyria and neighboring districts report a surge of students sent home for missing required immunizations. State law requires DPT, polio, rubella, and measles vaccines for K-12 entry, with limited exemptions. Health officials estimate up to about 2,000 youths may have been affected as boards of health administer shots to many children still out of class.

In Middleburg Heights a 14 year old, Benny Kopec, was struck by lightning while walking to school at Midpark High. He recalls nothing of the incident and was treated and released from Southwest General Hospital at 7:30 am. His companion John Rossi, also 14, remained in stable condition at Southwest.

Ex-British Leader Harold Wilson to Speak at LCCC

Former British prime minister Sir Harold Wilson will lecture at Lorain County Community College this month as part of fall quarter programs. He will speak Sept 27 at 1 p.m. to allow area high school government teachers to bring students to the campus.

Amherst voters pass school levy in South Amherst

South Amherst voters approved a 3 mill five year permanent levy by 186 to 132 saving district schools from closure. Superintendent Lawrence Fallon said turnout was high for a special election though overall turnout was low. Funds will rewire the schools on drainage painting plastering and plumbing upgrades.
