Transporting a blind boy raises busing dispute
Eddie Koehn an eight year old partially blind student faces a two hour daily bus ride to Allen School in Elyria. His parents ask Midview Board of Education to allow Eddie to switch to the Elyria handicapped bus, Midview high school route, or state transport with reimbursement. Superintendent Beatty says Midview cannot bear handicapped transport but offers alternatives including a non public bus and a two block walk to a stop. He notes the inconvenience to 60 to 70 riders on the high school bus and defends the district’s efforts. The report shifts to Camp David talks on Israel withdrawal from the West Bank and Gaza, with Carter Begin Sadat uncertainties and a possible Friday conclusion.
