Largest Fair Here In Many Years at Sorum County Fair
Special features are added for the 1937 Sorum County Fair to be held September 21 to 24 with officials predicting the largest fair in many years. Elyria merchants and employers back the event, stores plan to close at noon September 22, and nearby towns join in closing and supporting the fair. A big parade at the fair grounds is planned with the Elyria High School band leading, entries sought for oldest and best looking buggy, coach, and automobile, and a nude band may participate. Three parades will run daily starting at 1 pm with other bands and drum corps invited to join.

Roosevelt and the New Deal in a United States Neutrality Debate
Boake Carter argues that neutrality in Europe or the Orient is impossible under today’s economy. He says the United States must adopt economic nationalism, halt overseas investments by corporations and banks, and redirect output to avoid entanglement. He contends only a government directed shift in production and prohibition of foreign investment can avert perpetual conflict driven by global competition.

Direction of the flow of capital and neutrality questions
The piece discusses shifting profits and investment to raise domestic wages and social use in America, critiques Roosevelts New Deal for restricting production, and argues for redirecting finances to reduce world market competition. It also notes the need to balance neutrality with adopting New Deal principles and explains mountains form by rock hardness, crust uplift, or volcanic action.
