Ten Missing in Flood Hit Southwest

At least ten persons are missing after flash floods in Arizona and southern Utah caused seven inches of rain in the arid region. Three bodies were found near Payson and two others washed off roads in Mesa. About 230 people stranded in Payson area and 250 Scottsdale residents evacuated but later allowed to return.

Lorain Woman Killed In Turnpike Crash Near Beaver Falls

A Lorain, Ohio woman identified as Maria Ramos, 46, died when a car driven by Angel Morales, 18, struck a tractor-trailer on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Beaver Falls. Morales and a passenger, Wilfredo Ramos, 24, were in satisfactory condition at United Hospital. Morales fell asleep at 8 a.m. and the car wedged beneath the truck, being dragged 400 feet before the truck moved off. Morales was not charged.

Eight held after break in at Rochester federal building

Police arrested eight youths inside the U S Federal Building in Rochester after a break in damaged records in the Selective Service Office the U S Attorney's office and Rochester FBI headquarters. Six were held on bond and two women were held without bond as Jane Doe 1 and 4. Names include Joseph T. Gilchrist Theodore Glick Francis B. Calahan Wayne Bonekemper Susan Williams and John Nicholson with an anonymous caller claiming a group called the Flower City Conspiracy destroyed files and sprayed paint on walls.

Mounties, dog aid capture accused slayer in Creston BC

A lumberjack, Dale Merle Nelson 31, was captured near his home with a police dog Count assisting. He led officers to the site of a hostage, 8 year old Cathy Phipps, who remained missing. Seven killed, including four children, in Corn Creek area. search continued. Nearby Italy reports bombs in front of Regional Council homes after slayings. Elyria Bus Drivers Plan Tuesday Meeting on Pay Dispute

Elyria school buses will run on normal schedules Tuesday. Bus drivers, unhappy with pay, will meet administrators at 9 30 a m after morning routes. A spokesman Alvin Mahoney said drivers would complete Tuesday runs including afternoon homebound trips and hopes to iron out differences that day.
