Seven people were found shot to death in two farm houses near Creston B C as police searched for a sandy haired gunman and a missing child believed to have survived. Dale Merle Nelson suspected, with victims including Mr and Mrs Ray Phipps and Mrs Alex Wasyk and her seven year old daughter Tracy. A second Wasyk child survived and was hospitalised. Neighbors noted Nelson had recently moved to West Creston from Creston.

Police found heavy front end damage and blue dye matching a jacket on the car. Henderson had been jailed on DUI charges earlier Friday.
The United Nations Security Council, in a 14 to abstain vote with the United States, called for complete and immediate Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon. Spain submitted the resolution after Lebanon accused Israeli troops of crossing its southern border. Shabtai Rosenne and U S Ambassador William Buffum commented on differing reports of raids by Arab guerrillas and the Israeli response.
Oliver Mills, 59, surrendered peacefully to a posse after a weeklong manhunt in Vinton County. Mills, charged with first degree murder in the slaying of Sheriff Har old Steele, was jailed in Logan awaiting arraignment. Deputy Dave Wilbur was wounded. The manhunt involved up to 250 officers, dogs, helicopters and planes.
Reports from Amman say the Jordanian army shelled Palestinian guerrillas in Zerka, with 30 fighters killed and 66 wounded. Guerrillas allegedly fired 200 mortar shells at an army camp, while some soldiers were killed or wounded. Cairo hosted a 14-nation Arab meeting with the PLO to seek an end to the crisis.
