Three Men Die In 185 Foot Plunge
CHICAGO September 7 Four persons were dead today and 16 injured after two accidents in a city tunnel shaft and a building collapse. Three men died and six were injured when a steel car cable snapped sending them down a 185 foot tunnel shaft. Another man died and 79 people were injured when a building under demolition collapsed trapping locals who had gathered wood.

Canton boy saves sister from cistern fall

Athens Ohio Sept 7 violent incidents resumed in the Hocking Valley coal strike area. A six room home of Edward Fouty inside foreman at Manhattan Coal Company No 25 mine was wrecked by dynamite at Chauncey. Fouty and family had moved to Athens hours earlier. Three men Pearl Canter Clarence Oliver and Louis Hopkins were arrested by Ohio National Guardsmen after allegedly stoning Charles Kelly and Joe Bailey while they rode to work at a Chauncey mine. They were bound over to the Athens County grand jury on a charge of attack. Sniping at intervals reported at the No 25 mine. guardsmen fired back with no injuries.
