Avon Lake men drifted into building trades and become developers
In Avon Lake Herman Kopf and Thomas Butts, both in their late twenties, formed Community Planners Inc and built a string of projects from Washington Square to Smuggler's Cove. They plan a $3.5 million 182 unit townhouse complex near Aquamarine Golf Course if zoning changes pass. They already operate Kopf Builders and Butts Plumbing and Heating, share crews, and lead local home builder groups.
