Reds Plan Big Fight At Pact Conference
SAN FRANCISCO Russian chief Delegate Andrei Gromyko said he was ready for a fight and predicted the Japanese peace conference may last a month. Communist delegates promised a big fight to day against United States British plans to speed signing of the Japanese peace treaty without changes. The Soviet Poland and Czechoslovakia would open their fight today during the first conference business session. The first meeting begins at 10 a.m. PDT in the War Memorial Opera House. The Iron Curtain delegates sought unlimited debate and to offer constructive suggestions to alter the treaty while refusing to sign without changes. Officials warned of a possible Communist walkout at the climax of the peace conference.
