A Sunday evening crash near the Lorain County Speedway exit on Route 58 left two of three cars badly damaged but with no injuries. George E. Poore of Amherst pulled onto Route 48. his car struck Russell Crottell, 33, of Wellington, whose vehicle then collided with George Klavon, 52, of Bay Village.

Labor Day Traffic Toll Sets a New Record
United Press reports a Labor Day weekend traffic death toll reached an all time high of 707. Non traffic deaths added 243 with 118 drownings and 19 air crashes. The National Safety Council blamed reckless drivers and noted 143,507 injuries. Several family tragedies occurred, including multiple fatalities in Minnesota and Texas crashes and a fatal plane stunt at the Minnesota State Fair.

Orientation to Start for Elyria Catholic High School Freshmen Expected
