Avon bond plan eyed for former middle school site
Gillock calls the proposed bond a potential path to redevelop the corner of Detroit Road and Route 83 in Avon. The plan would tear down the 1923 middle school and adjacent structures, using the $8.9 million School Facilities Commission grant to build a new grades 3-8 building near North Ridgeville High School and clear the 13 acre site for a possible retail and housing complex. Developers such as Jacobs Visconsi Jacobs Co Carnegie Management would be invited to submit proposals to shape the land, preserving local control over its destiny.
