Barbara Berdy Beatty 84 of Lorain died October 26 2016 in Columbus Born March 11 1932 in Butler PA to Michael and Eva Berdy a Butler High School graduate she spent 43 years as a nurse and supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital She enjoyed volunteering with Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church and several clubs Survived by six children nine grandchildren and many friends Memorial gathering October 30 2016 at Devin and Reber Jones Amherst with a 5 PM service.
Claudia Eva Tomaszewski Jaworski 102 of Vermilion died October 26 2016 after a lengthy illness. She was born December 22 1913 in Lorain and lived in Vermilion most recently with her son. She worked at Central Bakery Kaise’s Bakery and Nichol’s Bakery retiring as a shipping clerk. Survived by son Thomas Corky Tomaszewski daughter in law Hallie Mappus grandchildren Tami Mappus Jay Mappus Deborah Marquardt Richard Tomaszewski great grandchildren Erica Allison Stephanie Brendan Ian and nieces and nephews. Preceded by husbands Constantine Tomaszewski Frank Jaworski and son Richard. An overturned Republic Services truck blocked the Route 58 511 junction in Oberlin for about seven hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Republic has had a second spill this month with a prior October incident at the Lorain County Landfill entrance in New Russia Township. Police did not release citation details.

Zachary Manilla 26 has been indicted on murder and felonious assault for allegedly stabbing his mother Kimberly Manilla 51 to death in the backyard of his sister’s home on Aug 21. He is held in Lorain County Jail awaiting arraignment next week. police say he admitted the stabbing while in custody.
