Ridgeview Cinema closes amid new theater push
North Ridgeville Ridgeview Cinema, a 500-seat twin-screen theater opened in 1973, shut its doors Wednesday per owner Robert Havanas. The Amherst Cinema remains open as competition tightens with newer 10-screen Regal Cinemas in nearby Township, which opened with $1.50 all times.

Police investigate a 17 year old Elyria High student claim that a teacher grabbed his arms and shoved him into a locker after class. The youth, with prior suspensions, says they argued in a hallway and a bruise on his chest was photographed. No charges expected per Capt. Cameron.

Land eyed for Lorain Black River park survey
Lorain officials authorize the Lorain County Metropolitan Park District to survey about 260 acres of city owned land along the Black River for a future park with trails and shelters. Interim director Robert Hartle notes potential links to Ford Road and Casade Park, with $3.6 million reserved for land acquisition and the possibility of a new bridge. Lorain County Transit will test four Lorain to Cleveland link runs with Cleveland RTA starting Nov 8. Daily morning connections from Lorain City Hall to Miller Road Avon Lake and into downtown Cleveland will transfer to RTA Route 31 X. Evening returns from Cleveland arrive at Lorain City Hall, with fare set at 2.85.
