Lorain County jail escape attempt ends with gunfire
Lorain County Sheriff deputies thwarted two escape attempts by Daniel T. Fels, 26, of Elyria, held for aggravated murder after he brandished a smuggled .38 Derringer during a jail interview with Detective Bruce Johnston. Fels shot girlfriend Sandra Shanks in the leg, then was recaptured after a chaotic confrontation that involved multiple deputies and a communications officer.

Parolee Arrested in Boy's Stabbing Death
An Ohio Reformatory parolee who served time for sexually assaulting a nine year old boy was arrested in the stabbing death of Kevin Green age 11. He lived at the Harbor Light Complex Cleveland detox center and was arrested in South Walden Oct 26, a day after Green's body was found near railroad tracks in Old Brooklyn. Police turned him over to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff as a parole violator after he allegedly punctured tires of two boys bicycles. The two boys fled as the man approached.
