Miss Budweiser hydroplane crash shocks Seattle crowd
Dean Chenoweth, 41, ejected from the Miss Budweiser during a water speed attempt on Lake Washington. The craft disintegrated possibly after a propeller failure. He survived with broken ribs and was hospitalized in stable condition as Coast Guard crews rescued him. The craft reportedly reached 215 mph. the current water speed record is 200.419 mph.

Two Die In Shaft Collapse At Huron Construction Site
Workmen spent nearly 12 hours recovering the bodies of Thomas Casper and Earl King after a 60 foot shaft at a Durkee Glidden plant expansion collapsed. Casper, 34, of Litchfield, and King, 55, of Munroe Falls, were employees of McKinney Drilling Co. at the site on Sprow Road. Firefighters arrived quickly as the excavation for poured concrete pillars continued for the $6.5 million plant addition. King was at the shaft bottom when mud collapsed, trapping him. Casper, a crane operator, died trying to rescue a colleague.
