Prisoner Hunted Fox In Sheriff Run Hunt
Martinez Calif October 25 Sheriff Miller boasted of a science and sport experiment turning a prisoner loose to be hunted by his friends. The fox earned $10 and a place at the sheriff’s barbecue before returning to jail. About 100 horsemen and huntresses joined the hunt in Contra Costa hills. Mrs Patrick Shaw cried tallyho and claimed the fox, Lloyd Hosington, near three hours after the start.

Three Lorain County Hospitals Get Full Approval
Approval of three Lorain County hospitals by the American College of Surgeons for another year was announced at the Chicago conference. Elvera Memorial Hospital in Elyria, Gates Hospital for Crippled Children, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lorain each received full approval, with capacities of 154, 100, and 44 respectively. Two Elyria surgeons are fellows, and the total full or provisional approvals reached 2,621 hospitals in the United States and Canada.

C B Funk, 39, of 154 Bell Avenue Elyria, was treated by a Grafton physician and at Elyria Memorial Hospital for facial lacerations and other injuries after his car ran off Route 76 near Belden and into a ditch at about 7:50 a.m. Deputy sheriffs reported Charles James, 19, of 149 Human Street, escaped injury when his car ran into a ditch and tipped over on Sugar Ridge Road one mile east of here Saturday night. A collision at East River Street and Eastern Heights Boulevard damaged cars driven by Commissioner Oscar G Dunn, 313 Princeton Avenue, and Edward Cassidy, 528 East River Streets, reported at 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
