Patchwork quilts and pioneer crafts at Harvest Day event

Separately, a fatal explosion and fire in a Brunswick home killed four Swiharts, with coroner unsure of identities. neighbors described a fierce blaze and collapsed walls as emergency crews investigated the cause.

Bomb blast damages vacant Strongsville model home in Whispering Orchard

Police link blast at 13278 Old Orchard Dr to a pattern of unsolved bombings in new Strongsville subdivisions. Humphrey Returns to Washington to Resume Senate Duty

Senator Hubert Humphrey, 66, amid inoperable pelvic cancer, lands at Washington aboard Air Force One after two months of treatment in Minneapolis. President Carter, praising him as the nation’s No. 1 Democrat, says Humphrey’s return will bring him back to the Senate, where he plans to work and endure. He will be in D C for 10 days to two weeks before more chemotherapy in Minnesota.

Panama votes yes in canal treaties in landslide

Panama backed the canal pact by about two to one with 90 to 95 percent turnout among 800000 eligible voters. With 64 percent counted, yes votes reached 302386, no 151155, and 6602 ballots were null. The result shifts control of the waterway to Panama by 2000 and now awaits U.S. Senate ratification.

Cain women plead guilty in misdemeanor assault case

Dorothy Cain and her daughter Judy Cain pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge linked to a March 3 shooting near their Gifford Road home. Common Pleas Judge Adrian Bedleski fined each $100 and suspended a six month jail term on good behavior for a year.

German tourist finds Bangor misread as San Francisco

Irwin Kreutz a German brewery worker visiting Augsburg assumed Bangor was a San Francisco suburb after a stewardess said San Francisco. He wandered the city for days, was welcomed by Rotary and even made an honorary member of the Penobscot Indian tribe. Dozens celebrated his 50th birthday with a souvenir album as locals embraced him after the mix up.
