Convicts Kill Guard and Officer in Pa jail break
In Trenton and Langhorne areas, four prisoners escaped a state prison by using a ladder. During pursuit two convicts, McGrath and Weirman, were killed and Trooper Campbell died after being shot. The two survivors, Seibert and Stoddard, fled with vehicles toward Oxford Valley and Brunswick Pike before one attempted to shoot explorers and another crashed. Weirman killed himself as escape failed.

Mechanic killed by plane propeller at Port Columbus
John Doan, 35, a mechanic inspector for Transcontinental and Western Air Lines, died after walking into a propeller of a five passenger Ford plane during pre-dawn hours at Port Columbus. He was taken to Grant Hospital where he died at 6 40 a m. due to the severed arm injury. The incident marks the third death and first fatal ground accident since the airport's installation two years ago.

Three youths who fled upon seeing a policeman last night must explain their actions to Chief B J Stankard today. Police were alerted after a window on Middle avenue near Sixth street was broken by stones. A witness could not be clearly identified, but officers caught one runner who provided the other two names.

Capone Sentenced to 11 Years in Federal Tax Case
Al Capone received 11 years in prison and a $50,000 fine for evading $215,000 in federal income tax. The Elyria Fire Department unanimously agrees to contribute about $80 per month to the Elyria Council of Parent Teachers Associations.
