Clarence Sears, 66, Ohio State Prohibition Commissioner, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Chillicothe. Appointed Feb 9, 1931 by Gov. White, he previously led the Prohibition Enforcement service and was connected with Sears and Nichols Canning Co. Survived by wife, daughter in Ada, and two brothers. E. G. Mathews to lead temporarily. Born July 26, 1865 in Lawrence Kansas.

A 19 year old Miss Mary Dorr of Cleveland was killed and her companion Raymond L. Manson, 24, of East Cleveland, was in critical condition after a plane crashed on a Mentor township farm west of Painesville. Witness George Rider said engine trouble forced a forced landing that ended with the aircraft nose down and wrecked.

Human Chain Of Blind March To Safety
A line of 75 blind men and women from the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind formed a human chain after a basement fire halted downtown traffic in Pittsburgh on October 26. They guided each other by touch, with motorists creating a safety cordon to protect the group and prevent injuries. One group was led by a guide dog during the evacuation.

Insane man slays baby, harms wife, kills self in house blaze
Jefferson, Oct. 26. Jay E. Orford, 40, an auto dealer, attacked his family in a sudden insanity. He clubbed his 18 month old son to death, severely beat his wife, then shot himself. A second son leaped from a window and survived. A stove overturned in the struggle set the home afire, consuming the interior as Mrs Orford pulled the baby from the flames.

Charles A. Comiskey, famed owner of the Chicago White Sox, died at his Sand Lake estate near Eagle River Wisconsin at 1:25 a.m. He was 72 and was with his son Louis at his side. The long fitness, linked by friends to 1919 Black Sox scandal turmoil, ended a career spanning baseball from youth to major league ownership. He had once managed the St. Louis Browns when they won the world championship, beating the old White Sox in 1886.

Confession Ties Murder to $16 Theft in Lima
