Fire Marshals Probe Blaze Destroys Banik Home
Assistant State Fire Marshals joined Fire Chief W N Bates to determine the cause of a Sunday morning blaze that destroyed the Banik home at 203 West River Street. Banik and his daughter Anne were questioned, but the cause remained undetermined. The family escaped with only night clothes as flames poured from the kitchen after discovery at about 1 45 am. Banik estimated about 3600 dollars in house insurance and 500 dollars on contents. he noted the home had stood for 17 years and could not be rebuilt for less than 35000. The investigation continued after a conference in the chief's office and a scene search for clues.
