Nine year old Elyria boy hit by car on Fuller Road

A 9 year old Elyria boy Elia Alston and his mother Ada 38 were struck from behind by an unknown car on Fuller Road near 9:30 last night. They were taken to the hospital in fair and with head injuries and cuts and bruises respectively. Police seek details to identify the hit and run vehicle.

B52 raids intensify on Cambodian border and frontier region

American B52 bombers led the heaviest raids yet along the Cambodian South Vietnam frontier as 111 tactical strikes targeted North Vietnamese positions from 60 to 90 miles northwest of Saigon. Ground fighting dwindled with only a notable clash 130 miles northeast of Saigon where the 23rd Infantry Division reported 23 enemy dead and no Vietnamese casualties for its units.

Iran consulate blast sparks student demonstrations in San Francisco

Iranian students outside the wrecked consulate shouted Death to the shah as FBI agents and bomb experts arrived to probe the blast that damaged the three story building and nearby homes, about one million dollars in damage reported.

Miners and Deputies Engage in Ohio Mine Battle

About 500 striking United Mine Workers attacked the James Brothers Coal Co. mine near Mineral City with 50 to 60 sheriffs deputies from Tuscarawas Carroll and Stark Counties. The protesters burned buildings and exchanged gunfire causing injuries to several officials including Carroll County deputy John Pozherski. The clash drove crews toward Strasburg as authorities attempted to restore order.

Agnew Arrives in Greece for Week-Long Official Visit

Area woman dies in Rt. 58 crash

Hazel A. Osborne 52 of Sheffield Township died after a single car crash on Sugar Hill Road Route 58 four tenths of a mile south of Merriam Road. She was returning home from a visit to a relative’s grave and was pronounced dead at Wellington Community Hospital. The car left the road, slid, rolled and struck a tree, with Wellington firefighters aiding in extraction. A similar accident on the same curve Feb 6 killed Richard E. Farnsworth.
