The Lorain County Economic Opportunity Committee gains a $531 441 grant for program administration Head Start classes and Legal Aid Society funds. Executive director William H Taylor says the group sought nearly $600 000 and trimming to this amount will hinder administering head start for about 650 children across Elyria Oberlin and Lorain.

Vermilion High Evacuated After Bomb Threat

Vermilion students at the new Vermilion high school were evacuated after a telephoned bomb threat at 8 18 a m. Principal Alan Schroeder ordered the fire alarm and 797 students were sent home. Police and firefighters searched lockers and desks until about 10 a m when no bomb was found. This marked Vermilion's first such scare in the area.

Antlers proposed as civic center for Lorain
