Welfare Director seeks replacement for resigning prison chief

Columbus State Welfare Director Charles Sherwood today sought a replacement for Col Ozni Cornwell who resigned as superintendent of the State Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation at the London Prison farm. Cornwell headed the bureau since 1940 and said he resigned to re enter the Army. His resignation is effective tomorrow and he will report October 16 to Fort Knox Kentucky. An acting superintendent will be named within a few days to succeed Cornwell, Sherwood said.

Jackson Reinstates 10pm Curfew for Under 16s

City council re-activated a five year old curfew law setting a 10 p.m. limit on all children under 16 to deter Hallowe'en vandalism. Mayor Walter Ridenour was instructed to deploy extra police to enforce the ordinance.
