Your Good Health by Claud North Chrisman M D

An early medical column outlines how the body organs manage waste, aid digestion, and regulate growth and mental functions through internal secretions. The discussion clarifies the roles of glands in maintaining overall health.

Little Known About Glands Revealing Their Hidden Roles

The article explains skin glands like sweat and sebaceous glands remove waste and help cooling and softness. It notes kidneys and lymphatic glands including tonsils and adenoids filter bacteria, destroying them to keep us healthy unless overwhelmed by infection.

Glands and Their Role in Digestion

The article explains two gland types and their digestive roles. It describes salivary glands under the mouth mucosa that mix saliva with food to initiate digestion, then digestive glands in the stomach, pancreas, liver, and intestines, whose products aid digestion and absorption. It also discusses ductless glands, or glands of secretion, which release substances directly into the bloodstream for body-wide use.
