More Space Needed For Storing Apples
With one of the largest apple crops in history now harvested space for storing the fruit is at a premium. Donald Comin of the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station offers inexpensive insulation methods for farm storages using waterproof paper and furring, reflective paper, dry sawdust, and cork. He notes that minimal insulation plus small heat from a stove can prevent freezing during sub zero periods and that space can be converted cheaply into effective apple storage.
