Debate on aliens and citizenship in the United States

A writer argues the United States hosts a large foreign population and treats aliens well yet receives little thanks. He cites estimates of 500,000 to 5,000,000 aliens, suggests 2,000,000 to 2,500,000 may be correct, and discusses roles of foreign firms, varying incomes, and paths to citizenship. He advocates requiring naturalization after five years with exceptions for foreign firms, noting loyal aliens’ contributions and those who become public charges.

Citizenship Lines Drawn Over Allegiance and Dollars

It condemns Americans who live abroad for profit yet show little gratitude to the U.S., urging balanced loyalty on both sides.
