FBI report shows slight drop in Elyria crime

The FBI Semiannual Uniform Crime Report shows Elyria with 1,082 crimes in the first half of 1977 vs 1,092 in the same period last year a net decline. Theft fell 10 percent to 584, auto theft rose 38 percent to 122, and murders rose from three to five.

United Way of Greater Lorain County reports pledges totaling 435815, 15.2 percent of its 2200000 goal, at the first of three luncheons during a seven week drive. The 1977 campaign runs ahead of 1976’s 260912 pledges at 13.9 percent of a 2049360 goal, with a victory dinner planned November 9 at the Holiday Inn in Elyria.
