Elyria shows a surge in registrations with about 5 802 total by nine P M yesterday in four wards up from 2 463 on opening day. Lorain adds 9 517 total with 4 125 registering yesterday as citizens race to meet anticipated turnout near 11 000 from two years ago.
The YMCA announces the formation of a Boys Council to direct the boys division programs for the coming year. The council includes the boys work secretary, a board member, and two representatives from each sponsoring club such as Senior Hi-V Junior Hi Torch Airplane Model Hobby and Buddies Clubs, plus two from each gym class group.
A promotional notice urges readers to use Want Ads for moving needs. It promises listings for new homes, movers, and extra assistance, directing calls to phone numbers 4412 and 4413 for placing an ad. Grant Snorder, 64, of Stop 79 Cleveland Head, was found at the foot of a stairway at the Willys-Overland plant and taken to Hisra Memorial Hospital in critical condition with a fractured skull. Police said he was unconscious and that the cause of injuries remained unknown though falling down stairs was possible. He was discovered after a 5:49 a.m. plant call. rounds after 10 p.m. were not recorded.
City Hall reports a large turnout of Elyria men seeking Civil Service exam blanks for policemen. Reorganization plans spark inquiries. age 24 to 35, height 5 feet 9 inches, and proportional weight are required. Exact vacancy count not yet known.
Victims of the R-101 disaster were interred today in a simple common grave near the cottages of the dead, close to the shed from which the dirigible departed a week earlier. Ceremonies at St Pauls London and Westminster Hall drew thousands in tribute, contrasting with the grave’s modest marking.
Albert Bentley Crisp, treasurer and assistant manager of Peerless Laundry and Dry Cleaning Co., died at eight this morning at 124 Denison Avenue. Born June 7, 1889, in Elyria, he worked at National Tube Co. and Ernest Spenter before joining Peerless in 1913. He was survived by his children Marion West, Raymond Crisp, and Dorothy Querin, plus grandchildren, and was active in the Methodist church and Masonic circles. Burial at Ridgelawn Cemetery with Masons in charge following a service at the Methodist church.
County Treasurer N. D. Backus reported that delinquent personal property tax notices drew far more returns this year. From 3500 notices sent, 25 returns had been received by yesterday, compared with 95 returns from the same period last year.
A public notice urges Elyria residents to register to vote by nine tonight. It emphasizes voting as a duty and lists November election stakes including state and county offices, judicial seats, a tax amendment, voting machines, and a two million dollar bridge project funded by Lorain County taxpayers. State Prohibition Agent George Barnham denied in Columbus that he ever said officials in Lorain and surrounding counties had fallen to the depths during pre election weeks. He spoke after telegraphing Assistant Ohio Prohibition Commissioner Aldrich to explain his attitude toward Aguor law violators' prosecution. The Lorain interview was reported to Baynham’s satisfaction, an affidavit from a Lorain reporter stated.

Fauver 10 heads the Elyria Lorain County Red Cross Roll Call for 1930. The drive runs Oct 1 to Oct 24 with Fauver in charge countywide except Lorain city and Lake Erie border townships. Opening dinner Oct 17 at 6 15 pm at First Methodist church.
The Lorain county grand jury adjourned until Tuesday, Nov. 18, without finishing its review of 13 embezzlement charges against Timothy F. McDonald of Lakewood, former secretary of Port City Mortgage Co. of Lorain. About 100 cases were examined, with 71 true bills issued and 17 ignored. Indictments named Helen Nagy, Steve Fodor Jr, Max J. Kelly, and others for offenses including embezzlement, robbery, assault, and liquor violations. McDonald faces about $60,000 alleged theft, and remains bound on $65,000 bond. Arraignments set for Monday in common pleas court.
