Elyria High to stage Rose of the Danube operetta

Preparations are underway at Elyria High School for presenting the operetta Rose of the Danube on November 9 in the high school auditorium. Director J Martin Beck and coach Nina Baker lead a cast of about 155 students with a chorus providing much of the music. The show features colorful costumes and a mythical Eurolania setting, with a plot about saving a bankrupt kingdom and a Hollywood producer shaping the scene for a super feature. The production blends comedy with music, written by Geoffrey F Morgan and composed by Arthur Penn, famed for Smilin Through.
