CEI admits smokestack devices underperforming

Avon Lake CEI officials told the planning commission the 600-foot smokestack and coal dust controls failed to meet guaranteed 99.5 percent effectiveness. Clerk escapes armed robbery at Lawson store

A Lawson Milh Co clerk Mrs. Alvah P. Woodruff fled to the back room as a man with a chrome pistol announced a holdup. She escaped unharmed and the burglar fled the 16th Street and Middle Avenue store. Police report no items reported missing.
