U S Canberra bombers delivered 12 bomb runs and four napalm strikes against Communist positions around Tang Kauk 52 miles north of Phnom Penh as Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces attack Kompong Thom and nearby towns. Train truck crash kills New London man

Loyal O. Dunlap 73 of New London died when his farm truck was struck by a Penn Central train at a crossing on Section Line Road three miles north of town. The crash occurred at 2 12 p m as Dunlap, owner of two nearby farms, attempted the crossing with a soybean load. The engineer reported sounding the horn and applying brakes but could not stop before about 25 railroad cars bore into the vehicle. Dunlap was trapped in the wreckage and pronounced dead at New London Hospital.

Fatal Elyria bridge crash claims 30 year old man

A 30 year old Elyria man, Edward Patton Jr., was killed when his car plunged 40 feet from the Ossey Avenue bridge into the Black River. Police and fire crews spent about an hour freeing him from the water filled car. Crowds hindered rescue efforts and escalated on the scene.

City files bond validation suit in Lorain County

Elvira City Solicitor Kosma J. Glavas filed a bond validation suit in Lorain County Common Pleas Court to validate a city county agreement for a 3 million county administration building. The action aims to nullify a taxpayer suit by Wendell C Beal. Squire Sanders and Dempsey will represent the city. A November 16 hearing date is sought and a delay of the taxpayer suit’s November 5 date is hoped to allow simultaneous proceedings.

Montreal police halted the manhunt for FLQ separatists who abducted Britain's senior trade commissioner James Cross from his home. UAW Denies Welfare Chiseling By Strikers In Lorain County

Union representatives told Lorain County officials they know of no instances of welfare chiseling by striking UAW members. If any case were found, they would straighten it out. Prinz had said some strikers hid assets to qualify for food stamps, noting liquid assets over 1500 could disqualify. The welfare director claimed the report was misinterpreted.

LSD study death shocks med student in Philadelphia

A 24 year old medical student, Mark Prager, died after taking an LSD dose while working with mental patients. An autopsy listed the cause as an adverse effect to an illegal drug. Prager had been in his third year at Hahnemann Medical College and had volunteered at a Baltimore psychiatric hospital.

Three resign from North Ridgeville school levy committee

Three of six members resign from the North Ridgeville levy committee formed to back a 4.3 mill operating tax. They accuse two school board members Mrs Gilbert Reising and Dale Pepin of undermining passage while remaining members Mr and Mrs Corliss Miller continue efforts.
