Scrooge and Song of Norway Boost Foreign Musicals
Hollywood opens two costly foreign made musicals Scrooge at 4.5 million and Song of Norway at 3.8 million drawing crowds and promising returns. Andrew Stone says such films prove musicals need not be expensive and cites Song of Norway own production under ABC Pictures with Scandinavian scenery shot in America for 2.8 million. He notes critics fault aromatics yet reports strong repeat business and compares to Airport and The Sound of Music success.
