Thanksgiving turkey prices rise modestly this year
Local and wire reports say turkey supplies are ample and prices hold near last year. Fresh birds run 77 to 79 cents a pound, with frozen at 61 to 77 cents, while Ohio farms produce about 48 million turkeys annually. Retailers offer discounts on trimings as cranberries rise slightly due to rain and weather. The American Farm Bureau puts the national Thanksgiving meal at 2.64 per person, up from 2.59.
