Insurance reform bill bogged by product liability clause
In Columbus, negotiations on a major insurance reform bill stalled Tuesday as Senate House conferees insisted on adding product liability provisions. A six member committee led by Sen. H Cooper Snyder delayed a vote until today as both chambers prepare for the final three days of the 1986 session. The package would strengthen insurer regulation and rethink liability lawsuit procedures while excluding product defect deaths or injuries from suits. The stalemate coincides with tax and rail network planning items among the remaining agenda.
