Eaton township man held in death of sweetheart
A 28 year old Eaton township farm hand, Michael J. Benzak, is held on suspicion of murdering his sweetheart Alice Dernier Wediv, 21, of Gratton. The couple were found after a shooting on a Durkee Road embankment. An initial police report states the woman was shot in the temple and died instantly, while Benzak suffered a self inflicted forehead wound. Coroners and deputies investigated as details emerged. The gun, glasses, and the car were recovered nearby. The body lies at the Taylor Funeral home.

Two robbers threatened Hamilton Bank employees at East Liberty Ohio Nov 19 and stole about $1000 in cash. Cashier Helen Herd and assistant cashier D B Landes were threatened with shooting. The suspects’ car had been stolen from John Clark of Richwood and fled along a travel road toward Maryville while sheriffs in Bellefontaine and nearby towns surrounded the area.

League officials weigh economic blockade of Japan

Man Seriously Hurt by Cave-In at Wooster Sewer Project
Andy Kowalik, 37, of 78 Parmely Avenue, sustained internal injuries after a trench cave-in at a Wooster Street relief sewer excavation. Crushed against the wall in an 11 foot deep trench, the cave extended seven feet. Kowalik, digging with a pick, was aided by fellow workers and rushed to Memorial Hospital.
