Safety and finance groups back hydrant rental with Sheffield Township for two years at 35 dollars per hydrant and fire protection contracts for the county home and county garage with a two year term. Transportation urges five cent per zone cab rate increases with 50 cent minimum. Wheelchair gift gives Jimmy Wallace new mobility
In Columbus Ohio doctors and a civic group prepare a special wheelchair for Jimmy Wallace a 14 year old upper Sandusky boy who lost his legs and hips in a December 1949 burn. The device built by an orthopedic firm uses a bucket like frame mounted on wheels with a forearm crutch for upright movement. The school and Kiwanis supported by donations totaling over eight thousand dollars funded his care and the new chair aims to give him independence and chance to move about the campus.
