Midview Grad Shaheen Competes in ITU Long Distance World Champs
Kim Shaheen, a 1988 Midview High graduate and mother of three, finished 15th in the 40-44 age group at the ITU Long Distance World Championships in Henderson on Nov 6. She completed 120 km cycling and 18.6 mile run in 7 hours 7 minutes 53 seconds, after a canceled 2.4 mile swim due to cold water. Shaheen, who plans for the Utah Ford Ironman in St George May 5 2012, reflected on the tough course and her slow run after a strong bike. News notes also state Susan Williams won the 40-44 title in 6:14:56 with prize money awarded to top finishers.
