President elect Roosevelt will reach Washington at 2 40 p m next Tuesday and travel by car to the White House for a conference with President Hoover on war debts and allied issues. Vice President plans to receive Gov Roosevelt in the White House offices.
State Auditor reviews examiner findings on Oberlin Sheffield Lake South Amherst Wellington and Rochester Lorain County for Sept 1 1928 to Aug 9 1932 Most recoveries were technical Oberlin officials owed 1097 29 Fire Chief Giat and City Manager Sears ordered to return 55 72 and 7014 for convention expenses Some instances show contracts or work over 500 done without proper authority or contract.

Royal R. Muller aged 36 of 68 Hast Ein street Norwalk suffered critical injuries when his motorcycle crashed head on with a car driven by William Holley Lorain on Route 58 near Berlinville Erie County Sheriff Clarence Adams reported. Holley was with John Hyde Lorain. It was raining at the time Muller or his wife and two children were not mentioned in hospital report.
In Belfast a large crowd greeted the Prince of Wales outside the governor general’s residence. He climbed a wall, beat a drum, and delivered a brief speech. The event followed a tumultuous period as Irish reconciliation efforts faced pressure from the Free State.
Clinton Tate, 80, died at Memorial hospital at 7:30 a m after being struck by a truck while walking along Butter out Ridge road near his LaPorte home Tuesday evening. Driver Earl Foss may face grand jury review. Tate taken to Cleveland and survived by two sons.
A warm air trough over eastern Ohio kept the blizzard from reaching the state while Northwestern Ohio bore heavy snow. Toledo recorded nine inches, Celina 18, Van Wert 12. Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin reported deep drifts. A cold wave trailed the storm as unemployed workers cleared streets and travel slowed across the region.
Joe Uwananiwich alias Joe Johnson was fined 100 and costs with 0 days in jail after arraignment for larceny. He tried to enter W B Constant’s Jackson Hotel room with a skeleton key, was stopped by Constant, and police found Carruthers’s watch and other items in his rooms. Johnson admitted visiting other locations including the Wolf block and Krugman Millinery Shop.
A court approved a seven billion dollar fee bill for defense attorneys C F Adams and Lawrence Lorain appointed for former Lorain police officer Lenahan who pleaded guilty to second degree murder. Judge A R Webber announced the approval as Lenahan lacked funds to pay his counsel.
Winter weather across the Ohio Valley brings cold snaps and snow claims with wind and rain forecasts. Snow blankets reach parts of Illinois and Michigan while Texas cities report record November lows. Portland sees a high of 63.4, and Kansas City records 11 degrees above zero as weather shifts inland.
A defendant pleads to life imprisonment after two days of jury selection for first degree murder. Special jurors cost about 350 dollars, and county funds to pay attorney fees are nearly exhausted with 26 dollars left in the indigent prisoner fund. Officials expect the bill will be paid by tapping other funds.
Chancellor Franz Von Papen and his entire cabinet resign in Berlin after the national concentration government fails to win a working Reichstag majority in the latest general election. The move ends papen’s semi dictatorial rule dating from June 1.

New York acting mayor Joseph V. McKee, a young Scot, declares war on Tammany Hall over the issue of decent government. He says he is sick and tired of current municipal conditions and calls for a crusade to purify government in an extemporaneous speech at a No. 1 meeting.
Elyria’s Community Chest campaign at the YMCA reported $8,315.50 pledged in its first day and a half toward an $55,860 goal. Team totals topped by Dunn’s men at $1,097.50 and Smythe’s ladies at $723, with Bishop McFadden urging mutuality of interest and community spirit.
Elyria theatres organize charity drives to aid the needy. Rivoli and Dreamland will turn over all Monday gross receipts to the Community Chest, with staff donating services. Capitol Theatre schedules a Saturday morning benefit at 10:26, accepting child admission as a food donation for distribution by the American Legion.
The American Legion announced that many used toys will be repaired and distributed to the needy. Ex servicemen and firemen will repair the toys, with labor donated. Expenses for paint, parts, and incidentals are expected to total about 700 dollars. Boxes will be placed for donations and a special appeal may be made to Elyrians.
