Richwine accident marks first hunter victim in county
George L. Richwine president of the Elyria City Council became the first hunting season casualty in Lorain County when a finger on his left hand was shot off at the first joint. He was hunting near Sullivan, misjudged a mud plug, and a discharged gun wounded him. He received medical care in Wellington and Elyria to prevent blood poisoning as hundreds hunted rabbits and small game. Traffic was congested as hunters departed before daylight and shots echoed through Elyria.

Walter Wilcox an 18 year old Reno resident and Toledo Museum of Art student and Waite High school graduate was shot to death early today by Raymond Stoddard 19 also of Reno while they hunted.
