Mayor Jones and city officers held a conference with ten proprietors of drink establishments. Officials warned that samples showed illegal alcohol content and pledged inspections. many proprietors promised to close within the law while arrests would follow any violations.
The hunger strike by two Irish prisoners in Cork jail was called off on the ninety fourth day. Lord Mayor of Cork received a message from Arthur Griffiths of Sinn Fein stating the opinion that prisoners who have shown devotion and fidelity should now prepare to live for Ireland. The letter was transmitted to the nine surviving hunger strikers. The prisoners were reported in a deplorably low state. Bishop Co of Cork had urged cessation, warning a strike end would save lives.
Nov 12 report shows France remains unalterably opposed to admitting Germany to the League of Nations at this time. The foreign office cites ongoing conversations with Britain and others, noting a drift toward delaying membership. Hungary and Bulgaria indicate openness, while Austria applies for League admission.
A derailment occurred early this morning on train number 44 about one mile west of Veeders ind, Indiana, causing injuries to several passengers including Malone Bly, 25, a salesman, and Caroline McHugh, 21, a clerk. Officials report cars and sleeping coach were derailed but the rail was struck by a wagon. Train service authorities moved to clear the wreck and assess damages.

Langdon Nov 12 county authorities reopened an abandoned farm well on Willizra Bk Whitney’s property after rock and debris were removed. The search follows a statement by John Whitney, son of William Whitney, about his stepmother’s disappearance and the need to locate a body.
Police responded to Nast River street last May after John Ballicus of 308 East River street said he was held up and robbed of his watch while crossing a bridge by two men. Investigation found Ballicus joined their talk and was knocked down. he then left claiming a robbery. No arrests were made.
A marriage license was issued after the bride could not attend the probate office due to illness. The license was issued on a doctor’s certificate with a proper blank filled, and William Malone age 25 a salesman and Caroline Mu Hugh age 21 a clerk both of Lorain were the parties. Father Johnson of Lorain performed the ceremony.
A man named Hamlteen of 561 Broad Street was seriously injured when struck by a passing auto last night at the corner of West 73d Street. Severe wind and snow hindered visibility. he was knocked down, suffered internal injuries and eye damage, and was taken to St. John’s Hospital for treatment.

John Downs aged 86 of Carlisle died at his daughter Mrs J A Webber’s home on School Street after a brief illness. His death followed the sudden passing of his son James last Saturday, the shock leaving him unable to recover. He resided in Carlisle for years and leaves five children and seventeen grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow.
Three men in an automobile robbed a Kingston bank today, escaping through the town with about 94000 in currency and bonds of unspecified amount. The bold daytime heist disrupted the community as police launched a search for the suspects.

She was rushed to the hospital, operated on, and, while expected to recover, faced a serious but not fatal injury.
Elyria coal dealer Ralph Murbach says the city has sufficient orders being filled and no hard coal shortage yet. He notes many regions split or refuse new customers, but Elyria should see adequate supply this season with soft coal selling from 9.69 to 12.00 per unit and urges orders on warm days to secure winter needs.
In Cleveland on November 12 William H. McGannon municipal court chief justice was named by the defense in John W. Joyce murder trial as the mysterious third man in Harold Kagy’s slaying six months prior. State witness William P. Wilson identified McGannon as one of the three principals. Patrolman Walter Schnid also testified a third man seen at the scene matched McGannon’s description. McGannon testified he was with Joyce and Kagy the night of the murder in his automobile but left them before the shooting and went home.
General Baron Wramel commands a withdrawal toward the main defense line in northern Crimea. His force moves through the village of Lushun, about 19 minutes south of Perekop as Soviet troops press the attack. The operation proceeds despite concentrated Soviet assaults.
