Clearview school chief resigns amid board disputes

LORAIN Al J Haschak the Clearview Schools superintendent resigned Saturday due to differences with the Board of Education. He will stay with the district as a consultant for curriculum development and grant writing through January 2000. The board said day to day operations would continue normally. Haschak could not be reached for comment as board members were at a statewide school boards meeting.

Avon council orders appeal over Xerxes emission permit

Avon City Council voted unanimously to hire a Cleveland environmental lawyer Maureen Brennan for 2500 to appeal the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency decision allowing Xerxes Inc to release a chemical from 18 emission units at a time.
