Lorain payroll crisis looms as funding debate stalls
Lorain civil service payroll may run short for the first week of December unless the city council quickly approves a transfer of about 3,500 dollars. Civil Service Director Ted LeSuer notes 3,781 in the salary account, 24 dollars short of the needed amount to cover the November 27 payroll for two staff. The council's final reading on the transfer is not expected until November 30, prolonging a year long funding dispute and a looming payroll shortfall for 660 classified workers.
