Sinn Fein weighs move to contest Irish parliament seats
Sinn Fein leaders push to end abstentionism and contest Dail seats at Sunday’s convention. The youth faction backs participation in elections while the old guard resists, arguing it would legitimize state institutions. Gerry Adams notes the party must engage voters and end isolation, with Morrison predicting a two-thirds vote to drop abstentionism. Opponents include veteran Thomas Maguire and former leader Ruairi O Bradaigh.
