Doctor cites injury rise on synthetic turf at games
Dr. James G. Garrick from the University of Washington told a House subcommittee that high school Seattle players suffer 50 percent more injuries on artificial turf than on grass. He showed photos of skin blisters and second degree burns from turf play and estimated a full study could cost up to $200,000. NFLPA director Edward Garvey backed the research, noting players contribute without owners’ help, and Dan Devine supported the study.
