Huffy closes Celina plant amid union showdown
Huffy Corp shuts its Celina bicycle plant and lays off about 1,000 workers after rejecting union concessions. Workers had taken a 20 percent wage cut and face no health or pension benefits as the company aims to save at least 15 million dollars in costs and shift more production to Mexico and Asia. Don R. Graber, Huffy chief executive, says two plants are unaffordable.
