Elyria considers one year cannabis moratorium by council

Elyria City Council’s Community Development Committee endorsed a one year moratorium on adult use cannabis manufacturing retail and processing facilities. The measure heads to the June 3 council meeting, with an emergency clause to be in effect before the June 7 opening of adult sale permits. Existing medical dispensaries and home growing remain unaffected while zoning rules are updated. Local officials cite state regulatory changes and licensure uncertainty after Issue 2 as supporting reasons.

Avon Lake council designates Lake Road as business district

Avon Lake City Council passed an ordinance designating part of Lake Road as a business district and setting the speed limit at 25 mph within the district while 35 mph applies outside it. The district runs from east of Moore Road to east of the Beach Park Station plaza power plant exit. Council member David Kos noted the district’s 1990s denial by ODOT influenced the speed limit revamp.
