Woman’s diary fragment hints at lineage and longing
A fragmented 1937 diary recalls a genealogist tracing the McIntyres and a fleeting connection with a dream voice. The narrator muses on initials, tea invitations, a Smith in New York, luxury gloves priced at £16 50, and a park scene with shadowed swan lake.
