Charles Cole wins Carnegie Hero Medal for quarry rescue
The 1939 Elyria incident near Stop 7 left Chuck Cole and friend John Kozopas racing to save two nine year olds from a 20 foot quarry ledge. Cole dived across the water twice, guiding both boys to safety and earning the Carnegie Hero Fund bronze medal in 1940, one of two Ohioans honored that year. He later pursued ministry and served in Elyria with wife Marie.

Hair dryer recall over asbestos release risk
Last year several models of hand held hair dryers were recalled after tests found asbestos may be released into the air during use. The recall prompted warnings for consumers to stop using affected units and contact manufacturers for replacement or refunds.
